Important!

Relays are conducted only in the SD and SSD distances. The same rules apply to relays as to individual participation.

A relay team consists of 1 swimmer, 1 cyclist, and 1 runner.

The relay handoff is done by transferring the timing chip. The handoff takes place in a designated area, which will be specified during the briefing or on the eve of the competition. The changeover area will be marked with a special sign. If the handoff is done in a different location, the entire team will be disqualified.

The relay cyclist may wait in the changeover zone wearing their bib number (which is mandatory) and cycling shoes. The helmet must be in the transition zone, either on the bike or in the gear box.

The cyclist must mount the bike after the “mount” line and dismount before the “dismount” line. Riding a bike in the transition zone will result in disqualification of the entire team.

After the cycling segment, the cyclist can hand off the relay to the runner only after placing the bike in its designated spot and putting the helmet into their gear box. It is prohibited to hand off the relay while wearing the helmet — this violation results in a time penalty. The runner must serve the penalty in the “penalty box.” The participant decides in which lap to serve the penalty. If the penalty is not served and the runner finishes the race, the entire team will be disqualified.

The relay team may retrieve their bike only after the cycling segment is over and with the judges’ permission.
